Bazaar Novelties
Gifts - Outdated?
Article by
KarensVariety.com
Sometimes the meaning of bazaar and
novelties is confusing as there seem to be so many different
interpretations.
A bazaar
refers to a variety of items usually for sale.
Novelties refer to items which are
unique and pleasantly surprising.
Gifts, of course, refer to anything
which is given free to someone.
There are many different patterns and books
for bazaar, novelties and gifts items. Most of these patterns are from
days gone by. We think of ladies trying to save money by making handmade
gifts, or trying to earn a little spending money by selling bazaar items.
No matter what the motive, when you give a
handmade gift, you are combining the three ideas of bazaar, novelties and
gifts. Make a variety of different
items which are unique and pleasing
and give them to people you care for
on different occasions.
The old expression "it's the thought that
counts" is so true...gifts do not have to be large or expensive; just the
fact that you thought to make a gift with that person in mind brings a
smile to their face.
Dolls, doll clothes, baby toys, balls,
rattles, stuffed toys are always loved by children. Many of these can be
made from remnants. Give them as party favours or prizes, or just as a
"job well done" gift.
Women love personal gifts or gifts for their
home. Bring a hostess gift to any occasion, whether it is a formal dinner
or a barbecue. Choose a personal gift or something to match her kitchen or
patio decor.
Small gifts are wonderful at lifting
spirits. Bring slippers or a pretty crochet collar or scarf to an elderly
person you know. Newborn babies receive so many gifts, why not give a gift
to the new mother who is probably tired and needs cheering.
