Children love to eat any food they have
made themselves. Combine fruit and candy to create characters. All
that is needed is a piece of fruit, thin craft sticks and a few candies. Have
an assortment ready for a child's birthday party. This fellow is made
from an apple, marshmallows, gumdrops, smarties and string licorice.
As an alternative, omit the candy and use fruit. Green and red grapes
can be substituted for marshmallow arms and legs; raisins for hands
and feet. A plum is a perfect
sized head.
1. Insert a craft stick into the top of a piece of fruit, one in each
side and two on the bottom.
2. Place a marshmallow on the craft stick for the head; two on each side
for arms and three on each bottom craft stick for legs.
3. Add gumdrops to the ends of the arms and legs for hands and feet.
4. Lay licorice strings over the head for hair and insert a gumdrop on
top to hold in place.
5. The face and buttons can be made by dabbing on coloured icing.
