Knit or Crochet
Boots

The newest
fashion trend in footwear is knit or crochet boots. Given the
diversity of yarns, textures and styles available, these boots are
stylish and comfortable.
These boots are
knit or crocheted uppers attached to moccasin or sturdier soles. Some
are in leg warmer style set on heels or regular shoes. They can be
loose and tied at the top or snug, or worn in a slouch style.
If you are looking
for a pattern to make these boots, you can adapt a slipper pattern.
Once you have made the basic upper, you can increase your stitches and
knit or crochet the required length, or use a rib style which easily
stretches around your calf.
If the upper of the
slipper pattern calls for a thin yarn, simply change to a thicker yarn
for the leg portion of the boot. Or you can use the same yarn and
change to bigger needles or hook. The premise is the same as it is
when knitting or crocheting clothes, afghans, doilies, etc. Size is
adjustable by changing needles or the hook.
As for soles, you can purchase different soles and sew the sole to the
boot. There is "shoe glue" for sale so you could cut the sole off an
old pair of boots and glue the hand made portion of the boot to the
sole.
Or to have the look without actually making a boot, crochet a leg
warmer and wear it on top of a boot.
