Crochet a pot holder featuring Christmas trees. Use red or white for the
holder and green for the trees, or try using white and silver or gold
thread.
Ch 8, join to form a ring.
Ch 3 counts as a dc to begin all rows.
Work rnds 1, 2 and 3 loosely so the holder will lie flat.
Rnd 1: (2 dc,
ch 1) 8 times on ring, join with a sl st.
In all following rnds, inc in first and last st of each section.
Rnd 2: 2 dc in
each dc (4 dc group), ch 1, repeated around.
Rnd 3: 2 dc in
first and last dc of each group, dc in each dc between, ch 1 between
sections.
Rnds 4 through 7:
Inc in first dc, dc in next st, pick up green, dc in each of next 2 (4, 6,
8) dc, pick up red, dc in next dc, inc in last dc, ch 1, repeated around.
Rnd 8: Inc. in
first dc, dc in each of next 4 dc, pick up green and dc in next 6 dc, in
red, dc in each of next 4 dc, inc in last dc, ch 1, repeated around.
(There should now be 6 red dc, 6 green dc, 6 red dc in each section with
ch 1 between the sections.)
Rnd 10: Sc in
each st of rnd 9, join, cut and fasten thread.
Repeat this piece for the back, or make another piece without the design
to correspond, being sure to inc in first and last dc of each section and
ch 1 between sections.
Lay finished pieces together with sections even and sc around both pieces
with green, join, cut and fasten thread. Sew a bone crochet ring or
crochet one, 3/4 inch in diameter to holder.
