Crochet a table runner, tablecloth insertion
or chair back featuring Christmas trees. Make it a solid colour or use
white crochet thread with green trees and edging.
Starting at one end of scarf, ch 206.
Row 1: Dc in eighth ch from hook, *
ch 2, sk 2 st, dc in next, repeat from * across row until there are 66 sps.
Row 2: Ch 5, turn, (dc in next dc, 2
dc over next sp, dc in next dc) a bl, continue across until you
have 64 bls. End row with 1 sp; this and all other rows begin and end with
1 sp.
Continue in the same manner following the
chart; at row 13 the points around the outer branches of the trees begin
and are indicated on the chart by the inverted V.
The tree design is about 8 inches high and
the centre of the scarf may be made in open filet until it measures within
8 inches of the desired length. The tree design for the opposite end is
then made by turning the chart upside down. The pts are made this time
with ch 1, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1.
Edge: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sp around
the runner, 4 sc in each corner sp, sl st at beginning of row. Fasten off.
* To
make a point: ch 2, (holding last lp of these next 3 dcs on hook) 1 dc
in second st of ch in previous row, dc in dc, dc in first st of next sp or
bl, thread over and pull through all lps on hook, ch 2.
