This is a reproduction of a vintage
knitting pattern from a 1940s wartime pattern book. Knit a sailor suit
for a boy or a girl, with middy (top with sailor collar), dickey (white top
insert), short pants and skirt. To finish, the sleeves are sewn into the top and
three rows of braid are sewing around the collar edge. Buttons hold the dickey
in place. If you wish, a black silk tie is placed under the collar around the
neck, and an insignia sewn to the sleeve.
