Envelope Purse

Monograms

Get ready for New Year's Eve with this envelope clutch purse crocheted with shell stitch. Make it in basic black or in a colour to match your outfit; perfect for evening gown or slacks. Add a rhinestone clasp for elegance.

Turn your gifts into something special. Personalize with monograms. Choose your letter style and colours. Easy directions show you how anyone can embroider monograms.

Norwegian Recipe

Even though this is a craft site, Christmas requires recipes. This is a recipe for Fyrste Kake (Almond Cake) that goes back for generations from Norway. How much it has changed over the years, I don't know but I believe my mother was the first to actually write the recipes down rather than bake from memory. If you would like to try something different, this is a very light cake, delicious and fairy easy to make.

How odd the weather is! Out west in Canada is buried in snow and they usually have rain in the winter. It will rise to 14 Celsius today which is almost 60 Fahrenheit; normally we would have the snow. I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet; I am waiting for snow to get me started. Maybe I better not wait!

Christmas Ideas

Christmas is a time for crafts. I remember spending many hours with my children making imaginative decorations. They always had a "craft bag" full of felt, ribbon and scraps of material. Women in the 40's and 50's earned a little spending money with their crafts. Here are some ideas they had for Christmas. These can be made by you or children. Have fun!

Learn Basic Smocking

Easy illustrated instructions to teach you basic "honeycomb smocking, the simplest of all". Once your master the basic technique, then your imagination can take over!
