Crochet a sturdy bib for baby with crochet
ties or purchased ribbon.
Make several in different colours and attach appliques.
Ch very loosely 58, sc in second st from
hook and on to end of ch (57 sc).
Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each sc, ch 3, turn.
Repeat this dc row until work measures about 5 or 6 inches.
Begin sloping at neck,
working on one side only:
(at end, break thread and repeat for opposite side).
Turn, sl st to second dc, ch 3, dc across
for 23 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st.
Turn, sl st in 3 sts, 1 sc, 1 hdc, dc to
within 3 sts from end of row, dc, keeping last 2 lps on hook, dc in next
st, working off together as a cluster, ch 3, turn.
14 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, turn, sl st in hdc, sc,
hdc, 11 dc to end of row, turn.
Ch 3, 12 dc. Ch 3, turn, 11 dc. Ch 3, turn, 11 dc; ch 4, turn. 1 dc in
third ch from hook, 9 more dc, work 10th and 11th dc off together as a
cluster, turn.
Sl st in next st, ch 3, 9 dc, ch 3, turn, dc
across, working 6th and 7th dc off together; turn, sl st in second dc, ch
1, 3 dc across, work 5th and 6th dc off together.
Tie:
Ch 50
loosely to begin tie, turn and work back in sc; sc around inside neck of
bib to make firm.
Picot Edging:
Ch 6, sc in
5th st from hook for a p (a p-lp made), ch 2, sk 2 dc, sc in next, ch 6, a
p-lp, ch 2, sk 2 dc, sc in dc.
Repeat this picot edging down sides working
the sc into every other row; across the bottom work in every 4th dc.
