Crochet a pair of booties for baby using baby yarn in a single colour or two different colours. The bootee is crocheted with simple stitches; sc for the bottom half and scalloped dc for the cuff. Lace a cord through the cuff and tie in a bow. Attach tassels or pom poms if you wish.

UPPER:
Starting at centre of Toe Piece, with White ch 10. Join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 23 dc in ring. Sl st to 3rd ch of ch 3.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in next 12 dc, sc in next dc, ch 40.
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around Toe Piece, sc in each ch.
Rnd 4 - 11: Sc in each sc around. At end of Rnd 11, sl st in next sc. Break off.

CUFF:
Attach White in the 5th ch from Toe Piece (right side facing) and ch 4.
Row 1: * Skip next st, dc in next st, ch 1. Repeat from * around to within 4 ch from opposite side of Toe Piece. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in next dc, * sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in sp, sc in 3rd ch of ch-4. Ch 4, turn.
Row 3: Skip next 2 sc, * dc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 4: Sc in next dc, * sc in next sp, sc in next dc. Repeat from * across, now sc along remaining edges (side of Cuff and Toe Piece). Sl st in first sc. Break off.
Rnd 5: With right side facing, attach Blue to first sc on last rnd of Cuff, sc in same place, * skip next 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * along top of Cuff. Now make sc across remaining edges. Join and break off.

SOLE:
With White, ch 20 to measure 3 1/4 inches.
Rnd 1: 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, tr in next 6 ch, 9 tr in last ch; working along opposite side of starting chain, make tr in next 6 ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, 4 dc in same place where first 3 dc were made. Sl st to 3rd ch of turning chain.
Rnds 2 & 3: Sc in each st around, increasing as necessary to keep work flat around curves - to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 st. Join and break off. Pin Sole in place on Upper.

Working through both thicknesses with Blue (Upper facing), make sc in each sc around. Join and break off.

CHAIN CORD:
With double strand of Blue, make a chain 14 inches long. Lace chain through lower dc row of Cuff and tie in a bow at the side.

TASSEL: (Make 2)
Cuff a piece of cardboard 1 1/2 inches wide and 3 inches long. Place a 5 inch piece of Blue yarn across length of cardboard. Wind Blue 30 times around width of cardboard. Tie strands with the 5 inch length. Remove cardboard. Wind a strand of Blue several times around 1/4 inch from top (where strands were tied). Cut opposite ends and trim. Sew a Tassel at each end of chain.
