Crochet this motif which resembles a
daisy to use in place mats, bedspreads, tablecloths or assemble the motifs
to make a tote bag, or use single motifs to dress up pockets or as
clothing edging. Make it any colour using any size thread and hook.
MOTIF: Ch 150, turn.
Rnd 1: Skip 12 sts on hook, pick
up the next st on hook (but do not crochet it), * sk next 12 sts and pick
up next st on hook. Repeat from * 9 times more, leaving last 6 sts of ch
free (11 lps on hook). Pick up the thread at base of first lp and draw
thread through all 12 lps on hook. Draw up thread tight and fasten with an
sc, ch 6 and sl st in end st of remaining loose 6-ch, thus completing last
lp (12 lps in all).
Rnd 2: * Ch 3, 1 sc in next lp, ch
4, 1 sc in next lp, ch 4, 1 sc in next lp (be careful not to twist or skip
lps). Repeat from * around, join with a sl st in the sl st at beginning of
rnd.
Rnd 3: * 1 sc over next ch-3, ch
10, sc over same ch-3, ch 12, sc over same ch-3, ch 10; sc over same ch-3,
5 sc over next 4-ch, 5 sc over next 4-ch. Repeat from * around, join with
a sl st in first sc of rnd.
Rnd 4: Sl st to top of first lp, 1
sc in same lp, * ch 4, make 4 sc in next (center) lp of group, ch 4, 1 sc
in next lp, ch 4, sk 5 sc, make a 3-d cluster in next st (between the 2
groups of 5 sc), ch 4, 1 sc in next lp. Repeat from *, ending with a sl st
in first sc of rnd.
Rnd 5: Ch 3 (to count as first
dc), 1 dc in each of next 4 ch sts, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, * ch 3
(corner), 1 dc in each of next 11 sts, ch 1, sk cluster, 1 dc in each of
next 11 sts. Repeat from *, ending 1 dc in each of the last 4 sts, join
with a sl st to top of first ch-3 made (8 groups of 11 dc in rnd). This
completes one motif.
Make 11 more for one mat. Sew medallions
together (3 x 4) from the wrong side, picking up the other threads of each
stitch when sewing.
Work one row of dc completely around mat,
keeping work as flat as possible, and making 3 dc in each corner to turn.
