Crochet a doily that closely resembles
tatting using very small crochet thread. To give the prettiest effect,
your work must be very firm.Ch 20,
join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 for the first sc, 6
more sc in ring, * ch 4, sl st into previous sc for a p, 7 sc.
Repeat from * until you have 8 ps in ring, join to 2 ch; fasten and cut
thread.
Rnd 2: * Ch 12, join with sl st.
Fill ring with 10 sc, p, 10 sc. Ch 10, join to p of ring, ch 10, fasten at
base of r, ch 1. Fill first 10 ch with 10 sc, p, 10 sc, ch 1, join to p of
large r, ch 1, 10 sc over ch, p (join all adjacent ps), 10 sc, join at
base of r. Ch 15 (this is the joining ch between rings).
Now repeat from * until you have a ring
surrounded by chs joined to each p, ch 15, and join to first r. Turn work.
Always be sure that right side of work is toward you when covering chs
and rings.
Rnd 3: Cover each ch with (4 sc,
p, 6 sc, p, 6 sc, p, 6 sc, p, 4 sc).
Rnd 4: Sl st to top of first p. *
Ch 5, join to next p. Repeat from *.
Rnd 5: Over each 5 ch make (4 sc,
p, 4 sc); fasten and cut thread.
Rnd 6: * Ch 12, join. Fill ring
with 6 sc, p, 6 sc, ch 1, join to p of last rnd, ch 1, 6 sc, p, 6 sc,
ch 9; join all adjacent ps. Repeat from *, joining 1 ring to each p, ch 9,
join to base of first r. Turn work.
Rnd 7: Cover each 9 ch with (6 sc,
p, 6 sc).
Rnd 8: Sl st to top of first p. *
Ch 9, join to next p. Repeat from *.
Rnd 9: Over each ch make 7 sc, p,
7 sc, fasten and cut thread.
Rnd 10: Repeat Rnd 2.
Rnd 11: Repeat Rnd 3.
