Materials:

Small doll approx. 1 1/4 inches long
Fine crochet or tatting thread
No. 12 or 14 crochet hook
Small safety pin or brooch pin

Abbreviations:

ch	chain
sc	single crochet
dc	double crochet
st(s)	stitch(es)
sl st	slip stitch
sk	skip

Tension:

Make a cute brooch or lapel pin for a girl using a small party favor type doll wearing a crocheted dress, panties and bonnet.

Panties:
Ch 12, join in first st to form a ring. Fill ring with a row of 20 sc.
Repeat making two more rows of sc.
Put doll's feet through circle up to crotch.
After the panties are on the doll, work another row of sc across the back of the doll to make them fit very tight and lengthen the back.
Fasten and cut the thread.
Fasten the thread between the legs and make 4 ch sts; then tie to the other side of the panties.

Skirt:
Ch 12, join in first st to form a ring.
Ch 3 for first dc, then fill ring with 24 dc, join with sl st in tip of first ch 3 made.
In the next 2 rows work 2 dc in each dc around.
Place doll's head through the centre, and the arms between the sc at sides.
For an edge around the bottom, * ch 2, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * around.
Fasten and cut thread.

Bonnet:
Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.
Ch 3, 12 dc in the ring, join.
Ch 3, dc in the same place, 2 dc between each dc of the previous row 8 times, leaving 4 dc for the back.
* Ch 2, sc in the next st, repeat from * around brim for edge.

Fasten a safety pin or brooch pin with 5 dc at the back of the doll's head with the dress up over its head; catch the back of the bonnet also.
