Use this filet crochet insertion with roses
design as an insertion for linens or crochet an edging and use alone as a
decorative table mat. Repeat the design for a table runner, tablecloth or
placemat. Different needle and cotton thread sizes will determine the
finished size.Filet crochet is
composed of sps and bls or open and solid squares. A foundation ch is made
into which bls or sps or both are worked. For a foundation ch, make three
times as many sts as there are to be squares, add 1 ch st to this total,
plus the necessary sts to turn, (5 for a sp, 3 for bls); turn and work
according to the chart. In the following rows, the bls and sps are worked
over the bls and sps of the previous row.
To begin this filet insertion, ch 102,
turn and work a row of sps. Work 3 more rows of sps, follow the chart for
the remaining rows. There are 66 rows in all.

are already hemmed.
