Filet is composed of spaces and blocks which are made in
this manner:
Spaces (ch 2, sk 2 sts of ch, dc in next, or, ch 2, dc in next dc
when worked over spaces);
Blocks (dc in each of next four sts)
Insertion:
Row 1: Ch 63, turn, sk 3 sts, dc in next st, dc
in each of next 2 sts (a bl made), * ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc in next st (a sp
made), repeat from * 18 times, dc in each of last 3 sts (a bl made).
Row 2 and all succeeding rows: Follow chart,
making bls and sps as indicated. Repeat Rows 2 through 20 for length
desired as shown on chart. Fasten off and weave short length of thread
back into work.
Edging:
Row 1: Ch 57, start at straight edge of edging
chart and make bls and sps in same manner as for insertion.
Continue following the chart making decreases and
increases as indicated. To make increases: ch 8, sk 3 sts, dc in next st,
dc in each of next 5 sts.
Repeat Rows 2 through 29 for length desired. Fasten off
and weave short length of thread back into work.
