Easy to knit covers for golf clubs. Indicate
the number of the club by the number of stripes in a contrasting colour on
the cover. Choose any colour combination you wish.
With No. 1
needles, cast on 54 sts in MC. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for four inches
or desires length.
Change to larger needles.
Four Stripes:
K in stockinette st for the first 9 rows after the ribbing. Change to CC
and work 2 rows. Work 3 rows in MC to separate the stripes; each stripe
consists of 2 rows. Repeat until four contrasting stripes are made.
After the fourth stripe, work 2 rows in MC,
continuing in MC, next row, make 9 decs evenly spaced (be sure to dec at
each end of needle and in the centre on each dec row so that the cover
will be perfectly balanced and rounded when finished). K or P (whichever
the case may be) the row between dec rows. Work rows with 8 dec, 7 dec, 6
dec, and 2 rows of 5 decs.
Remove needle and insert crochet hook
through all sts (about 20), pull yarn through and fasten. Single crochet,
slip stitch or sew the sides of the cover together.
Three Stripes:
Omit the first strip and work the same as for the first cover.
Two Stripes:
Omit the first and last stripe.
One Stripe:
Omit the first two stripes and the last.
For the tab
on the end of each cover, ch 15, turn, sc in each st. Pull through end of
cover and fasten.
Make a similar ch, 12 to 15 inches long to
fasten all the covers together, if you wish.
