Hanger covers are pretty and also very practical. They keep
clothes from slipping off the hangers. Place spaghetti straps on your
clothes between the popcorn stitches at each end of these covers to keep
them in place on the hanger.
The covers are worked from end to end so you can easily
adjust the length simply by adding single crochet rows. Each row consists
of 11 sc; if you wish a wider cover, increase the number of stitches,
adjusting the 5 sc between popcorn stitches.
Popcorn Stitch: Work 4 dcs in one sc, drop
lp off hook, insert hook back in first dc made and draw lp through, ch 1
to tighten.
To Begin:
Ch 10, turn, sc in second st from hook, sc
in each st (9 sc).
Always ch 1 to turn, increase 1 sc at
beginning and end of next row, sc in each sc between (11 sc).
Next Row: 5 sc, pc st in next, 5 sc.
Next Row: 11 sc.
Repeat these 2 rows twice.
Now work 48 rows of sc or enough to cover
the remainder of the hanger with the three rows of pc sts at other end.
Join and fasten off.
Put hanger hook through cover at centre,
having the popcorn stitches at each end; sew together with rug yarn. Cover
hook with sc; tie ribbon bow for added trim.
