Hanger covers are pretty and also very
practical. They keep clothes from slipping off the hangers. Knit covers
for wooden or padded hangers or lay a layer of batting on the finished
cover before wrapping around a wire hanger.
The pattern is in three colours however you can easily use just one or two
colours. The covers are worked from end to end so you can easily
adjust the length simply by adding rows.
Cast on 20 sts in MC1. Work 10 rows in
garter st (5 ridges). Change to MC2, work 10 rows. Then change to MC3 and
work 10 rows. Repeat these colours until you have a piece the length of
the hanger, cast off.
Fold over the hanger and sew the edge together at the underneath side.
With large embroidery needle and two colours of yarn, sew around the
hanger hook with buttonhole stitch. Or use crochet hook and sc around the
wire hook. Tie ribbon bow for trim.
