Crochet these cute little kittens with embroidery floss in any colour you wish to use as applique trims on clothing, linens or accessories.

BODY (Work in rounds)

Row 1: Using 6 strands of floss, ch 2 making the first st twice the usual size, pulling the knot tight. In the long st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 9 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.

Row 2: Sl st in first sc, 2 sc in next, 2 hdc in next, 2 dc in next, 3 tr in next, (3 dtr in next) 6 times, 3 tr in next, 2 dc in next, 2 hdc in next, 2 sc in next.

Row 3: In back lps only, sl st in next 3 sts, (ch 1, sl st in next st) repeated around. Cut 6 inches long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back. (this thread is used to sew head and body together).

HEAD

Row 1: Repeat Row 1 of Body.

Row 2: Sl st in first sc, 1 sc in next, 2 sc in next, sc in 2 sts, * ch 5, sk last ch st, (1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) on rest of ch, dc in side of sc, sk next tr, sc in next tr, * 2 sc in next, 1 sc in next.
Repeat from * to *.
Sc in next st, 2 sc in next, 1 sc in next, sl st in next; fasten off.

With wrong sides up, lap top of body over base of head and tack together.

TAIL

Ch 24, sk last st, sl st in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next, (2 hdc in next st) twice, hdc in 2 sts, (2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next) 4 times, * (hdc in next 2 sts) worked off together for a decrease, hdc in next st. Repeat from * once. Sc in next st, sl st in next. Fasten in starting circle of body.

Take a single strand of black floss and embroidery whiskers on each side of head and French knots for eyes and nose.

Sew this applique with tail curled.
