Back:
Cast on 161 (169 - 177) sts.
The pattern is a multiple of 4 plus 1.
Pattern:
* K 3,
p 1; repeat from * across row, end k 1. Repeat this row for pattern. Work
even until 12 inches from beginning.
Spread out to specified width when measuring
length.
Mark for underarm at center of work.
Armholes:
Bind
off 12 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows; 137 (145 - 153) sts. Work
even until 4 1/2 (4 3/4 - 5) inches above marker. Bind off in pattern.
Front:
Cast
on 169 (177 - 185) sts. Work same as back. Bind off 145 (153 - 161) sts.
Sleeves:
Cast
on 133 (137 - 141) sts. Work even in pattern until 2 inches from
beginning. Bind off 12 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows; 109 (113 -
117) sts. Work even until 4 1/2 (4 3/4 - 5) inches above underarm. Bind
off.
Finishing:
Block each piece separately by laying each flat on ironing board,
wrong side up. Pin edges to board if necessary. Steam with moderately hot
iron over a wet cloth but do not allow the weight of the iron to rest upon
any one spot.
Sew side edges of sleeves to armhole edges
of front and back, sewing underarm sts together. Sew underarm seams.
Beading:
Join in first st to left of left back armhole seam. Ch 4, sk first st
on sleeve, * 1 dc in next st, sk 1 st; repeat from * around neck always
working a dc in each k rib and in center st between k ribs; join with sl
st in third st of ch 4 at beginning. Fasten off. Beginning at underarm
seam, work beading on lower edge of sleeves in same way.
Cords:
With tinsel make a ch 52 (55 - 58) inches long for neck and 2 chs each
12 (12 1/2 - 13) inches long for sleeves. Run cords through beading on
neck and sleeves running under k ribs. Take cords together at sleeve seam.
Knot ends of neck cord.
