increasing 1 stitch at each end of 17th (23rd) and every following 6th row

Neckband:
Join shoulder seams. With wrong side facing, No. 11 needles
and CC yarn, pick up and p 104 sts all around neck. Work 8 rows in lace
pattern. Cast off loosely. With No. 12 crochet hook and CC yarn, work 1
row of dc all around neck edge and down each side of back opening. Break
yarn. Now work a row of picots all around neck edge as follows:
Next Row: Right side facing, 1 dc in 1st dc, * 4 ch,

To Make Up:
(Optional)
Thread a needle with MC yarn and starting in centre diamond
at start of yoke, embroider 2 knitting stitches as shown in diagram. Take
yarn loosely up back of work to next diamond at right and work 2 sts in
the same way. Continue thus embroidering diamonds up right side of slope
to shoulder. Fasten off. Join yarn to left of centre diamond and work left
slope of yoke to correspond, thus forming a V of embroidered diamonds.
Now work another V starting in centre of yoke in 3rd
diamond up from start. Continue thus until 4 V shapes have been worked,
finishing with 1 diamond in centre of neck edge. Work back to correspond,
embroidering 5 V shapes. Embroider centre of diamonds all around neck in
the same way. Press yoke very lightly.
Join side seams. With crochet hook, work 3 rows dc around
each armhole edge in MC and finish with a row of picots as for neck. Press
seams. Sew on buttons.
