This is an intricate lacy motif to
crochet with instructions to make a tablecloth. The same motif can be used
to make placemats, table runner, coasters, or bedspreads. The beauty of wood will show
through the lacey design, or you can lay it over a coloured cloth.
First Motif:
Ch 6, sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 12 sc in ring, sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc in ring (24 sc made), sl st in first
sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 to count as first dc, 2 dc in same sp, remove hook,
insert through top of first dc made and pull lp through, * ch 2, 3 dc in
next sc, remove hook, insert through first dc and pull lp through. Repeat
from * 22 more times. Ch 2, sl st in first cluster.
Rnd 4: Sl st in next ch 2 sp, * ch 7, 9 hdc in third ch st from
hook, ch 3, 9 hdc in third ch from hook, turn first petal so right side
faces up, sl st into first hdc made on first hdc petal, ** ch 4, sl st in
next ch 2 sp. Repeat from * 22 more times. Repeat from * to ** once. Tr in
last ch 2 sp. Ch 3, sl st in top of last petal made.
Rnd 5: (Ch 7, sl st in top of next petal) 23 times, ch 3, tr in
next petal.
Rnd 6, 7: (Ch 6, sl st in centre of next lp) 23 times, ch 3, dc in
base of first lp.
Rnd 8: Ch 6, sl st in next lp, * ch 6, 6 tr in centre ch of next lp
holding last lp of each tr on hook and working off together for a cluster,
ch 6, tr in same st, ch 6, a 6 tr cluster in same st, (ch 6, sl st in next
lp) 5 times. Repeat from * 3 more times. However after fourth cluster
group (ch 6, sl st in next lp) 3 times, ch 3, dc in base of first lp.
Rnd 9: (Ch 6, sl st in next lp) 3 times, * ch 6, a 6 tr cluster in
tr between cluster groups, ch 6, tr in same tr, ch 6, a cluster in same tr,
** (ch 6, sl st in next lp) 8 times. Repeat from * twice, and from * to **
once. End row with (ch 6, sl st in next sp) 4 times, ch 3, dc in base of
first lp.
Rnd 10: (Ch 6, sl st in next lp) 5 times, * ch 6, a 6 tr cluster in
next tr, (ch 6, sl st in next lp) 11 times. Repeat from * twice more, ch
6, a 6 tr cluster in next tr, (ch 6, sl st in next lp) 5 times, ch 3, dc
in base of first lp.
Rnd 11: Ch 6, sl st in next lp. Repeat around rnd, ending with ch
3, dc in base of first lp.
Rnd 12: * (Ch 6, sl st in next lp) 7 times, ch 12, sl st in same
sp, (ch 6, sl st in next lp) 5 times. Repeat from * 3 more times. End with
sl st at base of first lp made. Cut thread and fasten off.
Joining Motifs - Second Motif:
Follow directions for first motif through Rnd 11.
Rnd 12: (Ch 6, sl st in next lp) 7 times, ch 6, sl st into ch 12 of
one corner of first motif, ch 6, sl st in same sp of second motif. Ch 3,
sl st in next ch 6 of first motif, ch 3, sl st in next lp of second motif)
12 times, ch 6, sl st in ch 12 of next corner of first motif, ch 6, sl st
back in same sp of second motif. Finish as in Rnd 12 of first motif.
Continue to make and join motifs in this fashion.
Note: On 4 corners of tablecloth do not make the ch 12 lp.
Edge: When all motifs are made and joined, make a scallop edge all
around the tablecloth by making 7 sc over each ch 6 lp and a sl st at base
of each lp. Fasten off.
