This is a lacy motif to crochet to make
placemats, table runner, coasters, or a bedspread. The beauty of wood will
show through the lacey design, or you can lay it over a coloured cloth.
Start at centre, with ch 10, sl st in first
ch to form ring.
Rnd 1:
Ch 3, 23 dc in ring, sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 2:
Ch 4 (for a dc, ch 1), * dc in next dc, ch 1, repeat from * around, join
with sl st in third st of first ch 4 made.
Rnd 3:
Sl st in next sp, sc in same sp, * ch 5, sc in next sp, repeat from *
around, end with ch 2, dc in first sp. This brings thread in position to
start next rnd.
Rnd 4:
Ch 4, holding last lp of each tr on hook, make a tr in each of the next 2
lps, thread over and draw through all lps on hook at once (this forms a
joined tr cluster), * ch 5, make a joined tr cluster working tr in same lp
with last tr and in each of next 2 lps. Repeat from * around, having last
tr in same lp with starting ch 4, ch 5, sl st in tip of first cluster.
Rnd 5:
Sc in same place with sl st, * ch 8, sc in tip of next cluster. Repeat
from * around, ending with ch 4, tr in first sc. This brings thread in
position to start next rnd.
Rnd 6:
Sc over tr just made, * ch 5, tr over next sc into cluster below, ch 5, sc
in next lp, ch 5, tr over next sc, ch 5, (tr, ch 7, tr) in next lp, ch 5,
tr over next sc, ch 5, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around, sl st in first
sc. Fasten off.
