Rnd 1: Ch 61, dc in
fourth ch from hook, dc in each of next 12 ch sts, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) a
shell in next st, (dc in each of next 14 sts, shell in next st) twice, dc
in each of last 14 sts. This forms a square for neck edge.
Rnd 2: Turn, ch
3 (for first dc), dc in each of next 16 sts, (shell in shell, dc in each
of next 20 sts) twice, shell in shell, dc in each of next 17 sts.
Continue working a dc in each dc and shell
in shell for 6 more rnds. Change to contrasting yarn and work 1 rnd; then
in main color, work 2 more rnds. Fasten off.
Edge:
Join contrasting color in any dc along edge. (Ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) a
shell in same dc, sk 2 dc, * sc in next, sk 2 dc, shell in next dc, sk 2
dc, repeat from * around entire shoulderette.
Fold point back about 2 1/2 inches at each
shoulder and tie in place with a small satin bow. Weave ribbon through
shell openings at centre back, turn under and catch ends invisibly to
garment. Lace ribbon through last row of main color at neck edge - over 2
dc and under next 2 dc - leave about 8 inches for ties. Count four shells
from front corner, join main color to centre of fourth shell, ch 5, sl st
in corresponding shell on back. Fasten off. Repeat on opposite side.
