Crochet a stole with the look of lacey
stitch between panels of shell stitch. Tassels complete the look.
Starting at narrow edge, make a chain 30
inches long (5 ch sts to 1 inch).
Row 1: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook - starting half shell made; skip 3
ch, sc in next ch, skip 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch - half shell made; (ch 3,
skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 3 ch, half shell in next ch, skip 3
ch, sc in next ch, skip 3 ch, half shell in next ch) 8 times. Cut off
remaining chain. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in first dc, * 5 dc in next sc - shell made; skip 2 dc,
sc in next dc, ch 7, sc in next dc. Repeat from * across ending with shell
in next sc, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: 2 dc in first sc, * sc in centre dc of shell, half shell in
next sc, ch 3, sc in next ch-7 loop, ch 3, half shell in next sc. Repeat
from * across, ending with sc in centre dc of next shell, half shell in
last sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last 2 rows until total length is 72 inches
ending with 3rd row. Break off and fasten. Block to measurements.
Tassel: (Make 22) Cut 15 strands each 12 inches long. Double these
strands and with another strand tie securely together at centre. Wind
another strand several times around tassel, 3/4 inches from top and tie
securely. Sew one tassel to centre of each shell panel along both narrow
edges and one to each corner.
