Rnd 3: With white thread make 192 lps of hairpin lace, about 2 1/4 inches wide. Join thread between two roll sts, on crochet hook pick up four lps of hairpin lace and sc, sc in same sp as first sc, * sc in between next 2 roll sts, pick up 4 lps of hairpin lace, sc and make a second sc in same sp, repeat around from *, fasten and cut thread. Fasten ends of hairpin lace together.

Rnd 4: With coloured thread, make a lp on hook and pick up 4 outside lps of hairpin lace, making sure they correspond with the four that were picked up on the other side, * ch 8, in the next group of 4 lps, make 3 roll sts, ch 8, sc in next group of 4, repeat from *. End with a sl st in ch at beginning; fasten and cut thread.

Rnd 5: Fasten white thread in a lp before a roll st, ch 6, dc between next 2 roll sts, ch 3, dc between next 2 roll sts, (ch 3, dc) twice in next ch-8 lp, ch 3, and tr in sc over 4 lps, repeat from * around, end with sl st in third st of first ch.

Rnd 6: Sl st in next sp, ch 4, 2 tr in same sp, 3 tr in each sp around, end with sl st in 4th st of ch 4.

Rnd 7: Ch 4, tr in each tr around, end with sl st in top of ch 4.

Rnd 8: Make 504 lps of hairpin lace. Ch 4, * pick up 6 lps of lace, sc, tr in each of next 6 trs, repeat from * around. End with tr and sl st in top of ch 4. Fasten ends of hairpin lace together.

Rnd 9: With colored thread on hook make a lp and pick up 6 outside lps of lace, making sure they correspond with lps on last rnd. Ch 5, 3 roll sts in same place, * ch 10, 3 roll sts in next 6 lps; repeat from * around. End with sl st in 5th st of ch 5. Fasten and cut thread.

Rnd 10: Join white thread in a lp, ch 4, 8 tr over same lp, * sk the 3 roll sts and work 9 tr over next lp, repeat from *, end with sl st in top of ch 4.

Rnd 11: Ch 4, tr in each tr around, end with sl st in top of ch 4.

Rnd 12: Make 756 lps of hairpin lace. Ch 4, tr in each of 5 tr, * pick up 6 lps of lace, sc, tr in each of next 6 tr, repeat from *, end with sl st in top of ch 4. Fasten ends of hairpin lace together.

Rnd 13: Make 21 rolled rosettes as follows:

With white thread, ch 8, join with sl st  in ring, ch 3 for first of 18 dc in ring, sl st in third st of ch 3; fasten and cut thread. Join coloured thread in the top of a dc, ch 5 and make a roll st in same dc, make a roll st in each dc around, end with a sl st in 5th st of ch 5; fasten and cut thread. With white, * pick up 6 lps of lace, also insert hook between 2 roll sts on a rosette, pull thread through and ch 10, sk 3 roll sts, pull thread through between next 2 roll sts and pick up 6 lps of lace, ch 10, pick up 6 lps of lace and ch 10, repeat from *; end with sl st in first lp. Fasten and cut thread.

Rnd 14: Join white thread in top of rosette, ch 7, tr in same sp, (ch 3, tr) twice in same sp, * ch 20, make a tr tr in 7th st from hook, holding last lp on hook, sk 4 roll sts and make 3 tr trs between next 2 roll sts (hold last lp of each on hook), make 3 more tr trs in top of next free group of lace on previous rnd, still holding all lps on hook, sk 3 roll sts on next rosette and make 3 tr trs between next 2 roll sts, pull thread through all lps on hook, ch 6, sc in same place as first tr tr, ch 14, tr in top of next rosette, (ch 3, tr) three times in same place, repeat from * around, end with sl st in 4th st of first ch.

Rnd 15: Ch 4, * 3 tr in each of next 3 sps, tr in next ch lp, ch 10, sc in same ch lp, sc in end of cluster, sc in next ch lp, ch 10, tr in same ch lp, repeat from *, end with sl st in top of ch 4.

Rnd 16: Ch 4, * tr in each tr, tr in next ch lp, ch 8, sk 1 sc and sc in next 2 sc, ch 8, tr in next ch lp, repeat from * around.

Rnd 17: Ch 4, sl st in first ch for a p, sc between trs, sc in same sp, p, repeat across trs, sc in next ch lp, ch 8, sc between 2 sc, repeat around, end with sl st in base of first p. Fasten and cut thread.
