A lovely square medallion which can be
used to make tablecloths, table runners, place mats, luncheon sets, vanity
sets or chair sets. Decorate clothing or accessories; pockets, purses,
skirt or blouse edging. Vary the size of the cotton thread to make larger
or smaller motifs.
Make a r of (4 ds, long p about 1/4 inch)
8 times, cl r.
Slip thread through last lp, turn.
* Ch 6, ds, p, 6 ds, join to next lp in r, make small r; repeat from * 7
times and join.
Ch 7 ds, join in small p, 7 ds; continue around.
Tie and cut thread.
R of (2 ds, p) 3 times, 2 ds, join to p in medallion, 2 ds, (p, 2 ds) 3
times, cl r, turn.
5 ds, p, 9 ds, p, 3 ds, turn.
R of 4 ds, join in next lp of medallion, 4 ds, cl r, turn.
3 ds, p, join to p in opposite ch, ch 9 ds, turn, r of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl
r, turn.
9 ds, p, 3 ds, turn.
R of 4 ds, join in same p as last r on lp, 4 ds, cl r, turn.
Ch 3 ds, join to last p of opposite ch, 9 ds, p, 5 ds, turn.
Make r as first r, join to medallion, and continue around.
Four of these small rs join the medallion.
Medallions are joined by the 4 ps
on each side, the small r in corner joined to the 3 medallions around it.

Make a r of 4 ds, join where the two chs are joined near the corner of
medallions, 4 ds, cl r, turn.
Ch 10, short p, 10 ds, turn.
Make r of 4 ds, join to corner p of medallion, 4 ds, cl r, turn.
Ch 10 ds, p, 10 ds, turn.
Make r of 4 ds, join to same p as before, 4 ds, cl r, turn.
Ch 10 ds, p, 10 ds, turn.
Make r of 4 ds, join between chains of medallions, 4 ds, cl r.
Ch 7 ds, p, 7 ds, continue making 7 ds between ps except on the corners
where 10 ds is needed.
Join one r to each p, and each place where two chs are joined, except in
corners where two rs are joined in same p.
