Crochet this waist length vest for women, with scoop neck and front buttons.

BACK
Ch 84.
Row 1: (right side) Draw up a lp in each of the 3rd and 4th sts from hook, over and through all 3 lps, ch 1 (eye of cluster), * draw up a lp in each of the next 2 sts, over and through all 3 lps, ch 1 *; repeat from *'s to end (41 patterns).

Row 2: Ch 2, turn, skip eye of first cluster, * draw up a lp in next st and in eye of next cluster, over and through 3 lps, ch 1 *; repeat between *'s, end by drawing up 2nd lp of last cluster in top of turning ch. Repeat 2nd row for pattern. Work even until 3 inches from beginning.

1st Increase Row: Ch 2, turn, 1 sc in eye of first cluster, ch 1, draw up a lp in next st and in eye of next cluster, over and through 3 lps, ch 1; continue pattern across row, end with 1 sc in top of turning ch (same place at 2nd lp of last cluster).

2nd Increase Row: Ch 2, turn, draw up a lp in sc and in eye of first cluster, over and through 3 lps, ch 1, continue pattern, ending draw up a lp in sc and in turning ch, over, through 3 lps, ch 1 (43 clusters).

Repeat increasing each side as in last 2 rows every 9th and 10th row 3 times (49 clusters). Work even until 10 inches from beginning, end on wrong side.

ARMHOLES
Next Row
: Slip st over 4 patterns (8 sts), ch 2, skip eye of next cluster, draw up a lp in next st and in eye of next cluster, over, through 3 lps, ch 1, continue pattern to within 4 clusters of end (41 clusters). Work even until 7 1/2 inches from underarm, end on wrong side.

SHOULDERS
Next Row: Slip st over 2 clusters (4 sts), ch 2, work to within 3 clusters of end, 1 sc in next st, slip st in eye of next cluster.

Next Row: Turn, skip slip st, work slip st over next 4 sts, ch 2, work to within 3 clusters of end, 1 sc in next st, slip st in eye of next cluster. Repeat last row (leaving off 2 clusters each side every row) 5 times more (14 custers for each shoulder). Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT
Ch 52, work as for first row of back (25 clusters). Work 1 more row, end at front edge.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, work 1 cluster, ch 2, skip 1 cluster for buttonhole, work to end (underarm edge). Repeat buttonhole every 6th row, at the same time shaping underarm edge as on back until same number of rows as on back to underarm, end on wrong side (29 clusters).

ARMHOLE
Continuing buttonholes, work across row to within 6 clusters of end, ch 2, turn. Work 8 rows even, end at armhole edge. There should be about 2 rows above top (10th buttonhole).

NECK SHAPING
Work to within 4 clusters of front edge.

1st Decrease Row: Ch 2, turn, skip first cluster, work 1 sc in eye of 2nd cluster, work pattern to end.

2nd Decrease Row: Work to within 2 sts of end (last st of cluster and sc), draw up a lp in next st and in top of turning ch, over, through 3 lps, ch 1. Repeat last 2 rows 4 times (14 clusters). Work even until 7 1/2 inches above underarm, end on wrong side. Shape shoulder as for left shoulder of back. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT
Work to correspond to right front, omitting buttonholes.

BORDER
Beginning at neck edge of left front, work 1 sc in end of each row to lower edge, 3 sc in corner, continue around lower edge, working 1 sc in first st, * ch 1, skip 1, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * to corner, 3 sc in corner, 1 sc in end of each row on right front edge to neck edge, 2 sc in corner, 4 sc across front of neck, 1 sc in end of each row to shoulder, 23 sc across back of neck; continue down left neck edge to correspond, end 1 sc in same st as first sc at neck edge. Fasten off.

Row 2: Beginning at lower edge of right front, work slip st in centre st at corner, * ch 2, 1 dc in same st as slip st, skip 1 sc, slip st in next sc; repeat from * up right front, around neck and down to lower edge of left front. Fasten off

Work border around armholes in the same way, having 13 sc across underarm on first row. Steam lightly. Sew on buttons.
