Knit a pullover vest with V-neck in your
choice of four patterns;
Checkered Rib,
Check Stripe,
Moss and Cable
Stripe of
Vandyke Stripe. Click the link to each pattern choice.
FRONT:
Using No. 13 needles, cast on 116 sts.
Work in K 1, P 1 rib for 3 3/4 inches.
Next Row: Rib 12 (inc in next st, rib
22) 4 times, inc in next st, rib to end (121 sts).
Change to No. 11 needles and working in desired pattern, proceed in
pattern, inc 1 st at both ends of 7th and every following 8th row until
there are 139 sts.
Continue on these sts until work measures 11 3/4 inches from beginning,
finishing so that the right side of work will be facing when working next
row. **
Divide for neck as follows:
Next Row: Pattern 64, pattern next 11 sts on to stitch holder,
pattern to end.
Proceed on each group of 64 sts as
follows:
Dec 1 st at neck edge on 4th and following 6th row, thus finishing at side
edge (on 2nd side work 1 row).
Still decreasing on every 6th row from previous dec at neck edge as
before, shape armhole by casting off 7 sts at beginning of next
row, then dec 1 st at armhole edge on next and every alternate row until 8
dec in all have been worked at armhole edge.
Continue without further dec at armhole edge
but still dec at neck edge on every 6th row as before, until 35 sts
remain.
Continue on these sts until work measures 7 1/2 ins from beginning of
armhole shaping, finishing at armhole edge.
Shape shoulder by casting off 12 sts
at beginning of next and following alternate row.
Work 1 row.
Cast off.
BACK:
Work as Front to **.
Work 10 rows.
Shape armholes by casting off 7 sts at beginning of next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st at both ends of next and every alt row until 109 sts remain.
Continue on these sts until work matches Front up to shoulder shaping.
Shape shoulders by casting off 12 sts
at beginning of next 4 rows; 11 sts at beginning of next 2 rows.
Cast off.
NECKBAND:
Slip 11 sts from stitch holder on to No. 13
needle and with right side of work facing proceed in rib as follows:
Row 1: K 1, (P 1, K 1) 4 times, K 1.
Row 2: (K 1, P 1) 5 times, K 1.
Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 23 1/2 inches (not stretched) from
beginning.
Cast off.
TWO ARMBANDS:
Using No. 13 needles, cast on 11 sts.
Work as Neckband for 17 inches (not stretched).
Cast off.
MAKE UP:
Using a back stitch seam join shoulder an
side seams.
Using a flat seam stitch Armbands and Neckband into position, stitching
cast off sts of Neckband to sts worked up from stitch holder on wrong side
of work.
Join ends of armbands.
