Yarn (any size, any
colour)
Tapestry needle
Your index finger
(or a hard object of similar shape, narrower at the tip)
Weave small bells and use them to trim baby
clothes, gift packages, or accessories.
Accent mittens, hats and
lapels.
Cut a one yard strip of yarn and thread
one end into a tapestry needle. Place the free end of the yarn over
your index finger and hold it at the back with your middle finger.
About 3/4 inch from the tip of your
finger, begin winding yarn around your finger to the left; continue
winding to within 1/4 inch of your finger tip. You will have about 8
ribs and you are now ready to begin weaving.
Turn, weave back to your finger tip
always catch the yarn with a single stitch at the top; weave down the
opposite side of your finger,
Continue weaving back and forth
across your finger tip until the bell is completed. Have rows of
weaving as close together as possible. Fasten the yarn and cut.
With same colour or yellow yarn for the clapper, insert
the needle through the centre of the bell leaving the yarn about one
inch longer than the bell. Turn and bring the needle back down through
the centre.
Cut the same length
as the first strand and tie the two strands together and trim the
ends.
To tie the bells together, catch the
double strand of yarn to the top of the bell, clip, leaving short
strands.
